Welcome Gulf Coast residents and volunteers! OSHACampusOnline.com and Keysspill.com have worked together to offer Coast Guard accepted 24 Hour Hazwoper Training to Gulf Coast residents and volunteers in a 100% online format for only $69.00 per person. The 24 hour course is for the Boat Captains, crew and volunteers. If you want to take the training for employment, please take the 40 hour course. Use the link three paragraphs below to the keysspill.com 40 hour page.

Keysspill.com has been in contact with the US Coast Guard and was informed that the boat captains and crew must have the OSHA 24 Hour Hazwoper course to work on or around the oil spill.

The OSHA government websiteis still recommending the 40 hour course for official oil spill cleanup. This page is for those who want to take the standard 40 hours of Hazmat training rather than the 24. There are many jobs with higher exposure levels that may require the 40 hour training, rather than the 24 hour course.

If you are applying for oil spill cleanup jobs, we recommend the 40 Hour Hazwoper course. Our discount code also reduces that course by $130.95 for a total cost of $219.00. Visit our 40 Hour Hazwoper training page for more information.

Our 24 hour and 40 hour Hazwoper (Hazmat) courses comply with OSHA regulations and are accepted by OSHA as documentation of proper training.

HAZWOPER 24 Hour is required for employees visiting an Uncontrolled Hazardous Waste Operation mandated by the Government. Note: Workers must have 24 hours of initial training and one day of supervised field experience before they are allowed to enter the site. **The online course meets the standard requirement of 24hrs of initial training. The one day field experience under a trained, experienced supervisor is the responsibility of the student's employer or potential employer.

What is Hazwoper?

Hazwoper is the OSHA acronym for "Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response Standard". Activities related to stopping the oil spill or containing the spilled oil fall under the "emergency response" activities under OSHA's Hazwoper standard, 29 CFR 1910.120 and 1926.65.

Cleaning up the shoreline is considered "post-emergency cleanup operations and has specific requirements, but still requires 24 hour or 40 hour Hazwoper training depending on whether the Permissible Exposure Levels are exceeded.

The Gulf Oil Spill is currently being treated with chemical dispersants like COREXIT and you must be aware of proper procedures in dealing with it.
